Position: Juvenile Probation Counselor
Salary: $4,864.00/month - Includes Comprehensive Benefits
Department: Community Justice - Juvenile
Work Environment: This role requires full onsite presence.
Role Summary:
The Juvenile Probation Counselor is tasked with overseeing youth within the community who are under Formal and Informal Court Probation. This includes:
- Monitoring compliance with Formal Accountability Agreements and Court Judgments.
- Developing casework documentation, including detailed case plans.
- Consulting with the Deputy District Attorney regarding referral assessments.
- Conducting interviews with youth and their families.
- Investigating cases referred to the juvenile division and reporting findings to the court.
- Representing the interests of youth in court proceedings.
- Providing necessary information and support to the court, including managing youth before and after hearings.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Human Services, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Physical capability to transport youth at any time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in computer usage is necessary.
- Flexibility in working hours is expected.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and drug screening is mandatory.
- Familiarity with local community resources, including judicial and law enforcement contacts, is beneficial.
- This position is classified as safety-sensitive and requires passing a pre-employment drug test.
Career Advancement:
Employees in this role will start as a Probation Counselor I and may advance to Probation Counselor II upon meeting specific educational and experience criteria, including obtaining necessary certifications.
