Overview of Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Office Manager and in collaboration with the Physicians, the Echocardiography Specialist is responsible for conducting a variety of Diagnostic Cardiographic assessments on patients.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background
    • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound program is mandatory.
    • Certification in Cardiac Sonography from a program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or an equivalent is required.
  • Professional Experience
    • A minimum of two years of experience in performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms is essential.
    • Experience in Vascular Ultrasound is preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification
    • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.
    • Registration as RDCS or RCS is necessary; registry-eligible candidates must achieve RDCS or RCS certification within six months of employment.
  • Key Skills
    • Excellent communication abilities.
    • Proficient in medical terminology.
    • Capability to articulate the purpose of echocardiographic examinations to patients and address their inquiries.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, cardiovascular pathophysiology, hemodynamics, and embryology to identify normal and abnormal cardiovascular structures and blood flow issues.
    • Understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and blood flow measurements.
    • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
    • Competent computer skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
