Overview of Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Office Manager and in collaboration with the Physicians, the Echocardiography Specialist is responsible for conducting a variety of Diagnostic Cardiographic assessments on patients.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background
- Completion of an accredited Ultrasound program is mandatory.
- Certification in Cardiac Sonography from a program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or an equivalent is required.
- Professional Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms is essential.
- Experience in Vascular Ultrasound is preferred.
- Licensure and Certification
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.
- Registration as RDCS or RCS is necessary; registry-eligible candidates must achieve RDCS or RCS certification within six months of employment.
- Key Skills
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Capability to articulate the purpose of echocardiographic examinations to patients and address their inquiries.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, cardiovascular pathophysiology, hemodynamics, and embryology to identify normal and abnormal cardiovascular structures and blood flow issues.
- Understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and blood flow measurements.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Competent computer skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
