Job Summary:
To provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in a setting that prioritizes patient needs on a holistic level. This involves incorporating emotional support and education with superior medical and nursing care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Perform a comprehensive assessment of patients within the appropriate timeframe, utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination.
Plan patient care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes.
Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate for the patient population.
Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment relevant to areas, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment, and no pattern or trend of problems.
Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Document accurately and timely.
Reassess patient condition, evaluate patient response, and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff considering patient condition and care requirements, acuity, and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitate staff development.
Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
Maintain position-specific qualifications. Attend mandatory in-services/staff meetings.
Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications, unit duties, and special assignments.
Maintain personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates cleanliness, orderliness, and safety to patients, visitors, and coworkers.
Estimated Salary:
$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
