Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts a variety of radiologic examinations, including general radiography, portable imaging, and fluoroscopic studies.
- Ensures the production of clear and precise images for diagnostic interpretation, maintaining high standards of quality.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all technical data related to imaging procedures.
- Proactively identifies and reports any equipment issues to management for prompt resolution.
- Educates patients about the imaging process, equipment, and procedures to foster understanding and cooperation.
- Prioritizes patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
- Assists in scheduling and coordinating patient appointments for imaging services.
- Monitors patient flow and determines the urgency of imaging needs.
- Demonstrates proficient operation of radiologic equipment in accordance with established technical standards.
- Collaborates with Radiologists during fluoroscopic and other specialized procedures.
- Handles the acquisition, archiving, transmission, and printing of images using PACS technology.
- Capable of performing after-hours image transmission and related documentation.
- Reports any technical malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator without delay.
- Processes billing through the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Provides guidance and mentorship to new staff and Radiology students.
- Engages in continuous professional development through in-service training and participation in relevant professional organizations.
- May rotate through various diagnostic imaging modalities and locations as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certifications:
- Must hold a valid Registered Technologist credential from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing.
- Current state licensure is required prior to employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
Complexity of Work:
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of human anatomy and related pathological conditions.
- Exhibits strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with Radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting patients of varying weights and handle equipment on a daily basis.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adheres to standard safety protocols and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
