Assembly and Inspection Specialist

This position is responsible for performing standardized assembly tasks of varying complexity and conducting quality inspections on various products. The specialist must be able to function in a team-oriented and continuously improving environment, adhering to Bobrick Gamco Division's standards of safety, product quality, productivity, and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce complete product assemblies from spot-welded sheet metal parts and other components.
- Verify incoming and outgoing materials for quality and quantity, recording scrap on MQRS daily.
- Identify quality issues using the 4-grade quality system and apply fixtures and jigs to produce quality products.
- Participate in recommending new and improved work methods to the supervisor.
- Maintain a healthy and safe work environment by keeping the area clean, materials positioned correctly, and following safe operating procedures.
- Assist with material handling operations and work in a flow manufacturing cell following rules of engagement.
- Operate all equipment in one flow cell and perform spot-weld functions safely and efficiently.
- Follow instructions and processes as outlined in the cell, adhering to specific rules of engagement.
- Recognize and report problems, discrepancies, and failures in material, tooling, machinery, and processes.
- Perform fitting, aligning, polishing, and adjustments on a diversified line of sheet metal fabricated components and cabinets.
- Conduct daily pre-use inspection checklists for equipment.
- Work independently in one flow cell and apply basic flow principles.
- Understand and apply the 4-Level Defect Grading System, contributing to problem-solving to correct or prevent quality defects and errors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent GED or above and a minimum of 1 year of related experience or 1-2 years of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write and follow instructions in English.
- Ability to speak effectively to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, as well as perform operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to read simple sketches and shop drawings.
- Physical demands include frequently using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and talking or hearing.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
