The Core Platform team manages millions of API requests that are essential for powering the Consumer, Machine Learning, Advertising, and Safety features of Reddit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and progression of our Core Systems, preparing for the next four years of sustained scale and growth at Reddit.
  • Identify deficiencies in our current designs and spearhead redesigns of our Core Platform to enhance Developer Velocity and Reddit's expansion.
  • Establish best practices and set them as defaults for developers throughout the organization.
  • Serve as the primary resource for developers tackling complex challenges in backend service development within the data domain.
  • Guide technically proficient peers throughout your journey.

Qualifications:

  • Profound understanding of building sustainable software systems within a large-scale engineering organization.
  • 10+ years of Software Development experience, including at least 5+ years in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP). Proficient in at least two programming languages.
  • Experience in influencing larger organizations (500+ engineers) regarding technical direction and best practices.
  • Passion for creating scalable, well-architected software that enhances developers' experiences while ensuring seamless support for scale and reliability.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as design, product, business, and data teams to deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Strong emphasis on user experience, usability, scalability, reliability, and quality. You are a dedicated advocate for the user, possessing a deep intuition for how people and machines interact with software at scale.
  • High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise while working across the entire engineering organization.
