Position Overview:

The Financial Reporting Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the fiscal integrity of BBSI and facilitating strategic financial planning. This position requires a detail-oriented and collaborative individual who will manage a wide array of accounting responsibilities. Key tasks include maintaining precise financial records, preparing reliable financial reports, optimizing accounts payable and receivable workflows, and providing support for tax compliance and audits. In addition to standard accounting functions, you will work closely with the Controller to evaluate financial data, uncover trends, and deliver insights that inform business strategies. This role necessitates a robust understanding of accounting standards, strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee general cost accounting and related tasks for the organization.
  • Compile monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Process invoices, establish new accounts, reconcile accounts, and finalize monthly financial records.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, confirm deposits, and resolve bank inquiries.
  • Reconcile various financial accounts, including cash disbursements, payroll, and customer accounts; manage collections for accounts receivable.
  • Verify and complete payments for accounts payable, ensuring proper account allocations.
  • Assist external auditors by providing necessary account documentation for annual audits.
  • Prepare and file tax documentation with federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Collaborate with software vendors to maintain and enhance accounting software systems.
  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing processes efficiently.
  • Stay informed about acceptable accounting practices and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using Intacct or similar cloud-based accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to prepare accurate tax reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all dealings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other accounting software.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required.
