The Dentist delivers comprehensive dental care to patients, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, operative dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts thorough oral assessments utilizing radiographs, periodontal evaluations, and impressions.
  • Records and documents findings related to extraoral and intraoral hard and soft tissues.
  • Provides extensive care for patients across all age groups, including those with complex medical histories and pregnant individuals.
  • Develops, discusses, and finalizes treatment plans with patients.
  • Performs tooth extractions, root canal treatments, and caries removal, as well as prepares teeth for restorations.
  • Restores teeth affected by decay through various methods including fillings, crowns, and fixed partial dentures.
  • Identifies and treats pathological conditions, prescribes medications for dental diseases, administers local anesthesia, and takes dental radiographs.
  • Creates dental appliances such as dentures, partials, minor orthodontic devices, crowns, and inlays.
  • Educates patients on oral health and provides guidance on maintaining dental hygiene.
  • Ensures timely documentation to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Trains dental staff on relevant applications to ensure a knowledgeable team.
  • Addresses emergency dental cases and performs necessary procedures to alleviate immediate discomfort.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Acts as a clinical leader, fostering a positive work environment and supporting departmental changes.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Supervises dental externs in delivering comprehensive dental services.
  • Maintains regular attendance to fulfill the essential functions of the role.
  • Continuously reviews and meets competency requirements to uphold the necessary skills and knowledge for the position.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION


For roles requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.



Minimum Required:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required:

Preferred/Optional: Previous experience in a dental setting.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licenses, certifications, and registrations are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions will be reviewed to determine their relevance to the role.

Minimum Required:

Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Wisconsin.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association at the time of hire.

PATIENT POPULATIONS SERVED

Individuals in this role are expected to provide care to patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.

When fulfilling the essential functions of the role, the individual must recognize the patient age group and apply appropriate care based on the patient's age and background.

The hiring manager is responsible for communicating the patient demographics typically encountered in this role and ensuring that the necessary cultural, age, and related training is provided to serve the patient populations effectively.
