The Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing programs to train employees on relevant regulatory requirements
  • Maintaining and updating environmental regulatory plans and recordkeeping, including SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Contingency Plan, Waste Minimization, and other required plans
  • Maintaining and updating OSHA required plans, including Lockout Tagout, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, Electrical Safety Standards, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, and other required plans
  • Preparing and submitting regulatory reports, including Form R, Tier II, Annual Emissions Inventory, and other required reports
  • Coordinating the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, maintaining generation logs, and seeking cost-effective storage and disposal methods
  • Serving as the ISO 14001 Management Representative
  • Assisting with purchasing decisions regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Coordinating Industrial Hygiene studies and implementing recommendations
  • Participating in and following up on audits, including corporate safety and environmental, property insurance, and financial audits
  • Providing support to the plant to implement and manage the STOP Program (a behavior-based safety observations program)
  • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing HSE-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and sharing trends and suggestions with plant management to proactively correct
  • Multi-site responsibility and willingness to travel between multiple sites

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental Sciences or a related field
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a SHE professional, preferably in a manufacturing environment, performing all or most of the responsibilities listed above
  • Preferably five years of professional HSE experience
  • Knowledge of and direct responsibility for regulatory requirements related to HSE, including OSHA, SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Contingency Plan, Waste Minimization, and other relevant regulations
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Experience facilitating training with various personnel, including hourly employees, contractors/temps, salaried personnel, and others
  • Basic knowledge of worker's compensation
  • Preferred certifications, including Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), and Safety Management Specialist (SMS)
