Job Summary
As a Mortar Squad Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Infantry's most powerful weapon – the mortar. Your duties will include setting up, loading, and firing mortars, as well as employing crew and weapons in offensive, defensive, and retrograde ground combat. You will also operate, clean, and store automatic weapons, and employ, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. Additionally, you will carry out scouting missions to spot enemy troops and gun locations.

In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, you will attend 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), where you will learn hands-on simulated combat and classroom training.
