Job Description

As a Construction Materials Field Technician with Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA), you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include field observation, testing, sampling, and review of materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, fireproofing, and structural steel placement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field observation and testing of construction materials.
  • Sampling and review of materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, fireproofing, and structural steel placement.
  • Collaboration with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Documentation and reporting of test results and observations.
  • Communication with clients and stakeholders regarding project progress and material quality.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicable ICC Certifications in at least one of the following categories: Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Spray-Applied Fire Proofing, etc.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must meet additional pre-employment criteria.
  • Reliable vehicle suitable for use on construction sites.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds (soil and concrete samples, nuclear gauges, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans/specifications.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
