Job Summary

The Northern Plains Rail Services is seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team. As a Construction Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor at project sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair railroad track at specified project sites or on railroad property.
  • Utilize and become proficient with the use of hand and power tools specific to railroad repair, maintenance, and construction.
  • Work outdoors in all extreme weather conditions, including very hot and very cold weather.
  • Exposure to dust, uneven surfaces, and other environmental hazards.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in cramped quarters.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in railroad or related field.
  • Experience with tools and machines, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow verbally issued instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand specific instructions and work specifications.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work as a team, to jointly carry out assigned tasks.
Working Conditions

The Construction Laborer will work outdoors in all extreme weather conditions, including very hot and very cold weather. The employee will be exposed to dust, uneven surfaces, and other environmental hazards. The employee must be able to work at heights and in cramped quarters.

Physical Demands

The Construction Laborer will be required to perform manual labor and physical activities that require considerable use of the whole body, such as standing and lifting from various levels. The employee will be required to perform tasks that involve crawling, squatting, and climbing stairs.

Education and Training

The Construction Laborer must have a GED or higher. The employee must have and maintain an insurable driving status, which includes but is not limited to NPR driver provisions.
