Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Equipment Transporter to join our team at Kootenai Health. As a Patient Equipment Transporter, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients and equipment throughout the hospital, ensuring a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Physically transfer patients from bed to gurney or bed to wheelchair, utilizing proper lift assist techniques and equipment.
  • Assist in the bed management process.
  • Assist the security department by managing the black box process.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff, patients, and coworkers.
  • Maintain and stock portable oxygen.
  • Manage rental equipment.
  • Assist infection prevention to maintain a safe environment at all times.
  • Familiarize yourself with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • MOAB Certification during General Orientation.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation.
  • Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height.
  • Must be able to maintain a standing position.
  • Exposure to needles, blood, and body fluids, etc.
  • Typical equipment used in a facilities job.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
