Position Overview

We are pleased to present a rewarding full-time opportunity for a Special Education Behavioral Support Technician. This role is perfect for individuals dedicated to assisting special education students.

Role Summary

As a Behavioral Support Technician, you will collaborate with classroom educators to assist special education students, both individually and in small groups, enhancing their academic and behavioral development. Your contributions will be vital in fostering student growth and success.

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $21 to $24, with potential for higher earnings based on experience
  • Consistent Monday to Friday work schedule
  • No weekend commitments
  • Typical working hours from 8 AM to 2:30/3 PM, totaling 30-35 hours per week
  • Engage with students across grades K-12, based on your preferences

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will provide support to students with various disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Common challenges may include aggression, self-injurious behaviors, noncompliance, elopement, repetitive actions, and sensory sensitivities.

  • Implement and oversee Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), Positive Behavior Support (PBS), offer positive reinforcement, and apply de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Deliver personalized assistance to special education students, customizing materials and strategies to meet their unique learning and behavioral requirements.
  • Aid teachers in managing classroom behaviors, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and encouraging student engagement.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, behaviors, and interventions to support the special education team.
  • Foster effective communication with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure cohesive and consistent support for students.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior experience working with children
  • Experience in special education, particularly with moderate to severe behaviors
  • Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
  • Familiarity with providing support for hygiene and healthcare-related services
  • Proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Experience with CPI and/or ABA
