Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Butcher to join our Meat Department team at Whole Foods Market. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and ensuring the highest quality of meat products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut, prepare, and merchandise meat products to meet customer demands.
  • Prepare specialty meat merchandise, such as sausage and cured meats.
  • Check product quality and ensure it meets Whole Foods Market standards.
  • Maintain a sampling program and monitor product spoilage.
  • Mentor and support assigned meat cutter trainees.
  • Provide excellent customer service and model suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective product preparation and merchandising.
  • Follow established procedures for health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment.
Requirements
  • 14+ months retail experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
