About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team at Fort Liberty Federal Credit Union. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and closing real estate loans, as well as developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Loan Origination: Originate and complete mortgage loan applications, gather necessary loan documents, collect upfront fees, and commit loans for processing.
  2. Customer Consultation: Consult with applicants on various mortgage financing products and programs.
  3. Application Follow-up: Follow up on incomplete applications to offer assistance and/or determine applicant intentions.
  4. Loan Coordination: Coordinate with Credit Union Mortgage Association (CUMA) mortgage processors, communicate with applicants and other parties on the progress of the application.
  5. Loan Closing and Resolution: Complete follow-up to ensure loan closing and resolve any problems while ensuring compliance guidelines.
  6. Loan Sourcing and Development: Source and develop loans for within markets, including but not limited to: HELOC, residential real estate, consumer loans.
  7. Rate Lock and Secondary Market: Work with CUMA Secondary Desk to secure rate lock and ensure loans are closed, funded, and sold to the secondary market prior to rate lock expiration.
  8. Account Documentation and Collateral: Ensure all pertinent account documentation is complete and accurate, and all collateral has been properly secured.
  9. Relationship Building: Support the credit union's strong relationship building culture through ongoing member contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge.
  10. Networking and Referrals: Establish a network of realtors and local business contacts for loan referrals.
  11. Team Collaboration: Perform as a team member in allocating and coordinating work flow.
  12. Department and Company Objectives: Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
  13. Compliance and Regulations: Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  1. Education and Training: High School education or GED, and must be able to meet the qualifications necessary to be registered with the NMLS under the provisions set forth by the S.A.F.E. Act.
  2. Prior Experience: 5-8 years mortgage lending or related experience.
  3. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to explain and discuss complex and/or sensitive topics.
  4. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, and understanding and knowledge of credit union and lending regulations and responsibilities relating to each, including a working knowledge of mortgages, liens, and other aspects of the loan collateral perfection.
  5. Leadership and Self-Starter: Self-starter, ability to work independently, and leadership abilities.
