Job Title: Behavior Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavior Specialist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) services for students with challenging behaviors, creating and implementing functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans, and developing programs and policies related to instruction using the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide BCBA services for students with challenging behaviors, including functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
  2. Develop and implement programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction using ABA principles for students with Autism and other disabilities.
  3. Consult with teachers and staff on strategies for supporting students with severe behavior problems.
  4. Collect data and prepare reports to document student progress.
  5. Conduct parent training on strategies for supporting students with challenging behaviors.
  6. Collaborate with the IEP team to develop and implement individualized education plans.
Requirements:
  1. Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or related field.
  2. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  3. Experience working with students with developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities, autism, and/or problems with self-control and self-esteem.
  4. Ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
