Position Summary

McHenry County College seeks dedicated educators who are passionate about fostering student development. They are responsible for evaluating student progress to ensure academic success while remaining informed about the latest trends in psychology. Instructors collaborate with colleagues to support the College's strategic objectives and actively promote educational opportunities within the community.
Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver courses as designated by the College
  • Be available for instruction during various times, including daytime, evening, or weekends
  • Hold student meetings before or after class, and communicate via college email as needed
  • Create course syllabi using the provided MCC template
  • Collaborate effectively within the department and across the College to enhance educational quality
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student performance
  • Maintain and submit accurate documentation related to student progress and course requirements in a timely manner
  • Record and report attendance daily, ensuring accurate weekly attendance records
  • Submit electronic grade reports by the specified deadlines
  • Employ a variety of teaching techniques to address the diverse needs of students
  • Utilize technology and online resources when appropriate
Required Qualifications
  • A master's degree in psychology or a master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in psychology
  • Experience in teaching introductory psychology courses
  • Willingness to engage with educational technology, such as course management systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, particularly in contemporary teaching practices
  • Dedication to the mission of community colleges and to motivating students from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, interpersonal relations, and problem-solving
