Auto Body Technician Job Description

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. As a highly skilled Award-Winning Auto Body Repair Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring vehicles that have sustained structural damage due to accidents or other incidents.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in repairing and rebuilding vehicle frames, aligning frames and suspension systems, replacing damaged body panels and parts, and using specialized tools and equipment.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of structural damage on vehicles to determine the scope of repairs needed.
  • Disassemble damaged vehicles to assess the extent of structural damage and identify any hidden damage.
  • Repair and rebuild vehicle frames to factory specifications using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Align frames and suspension systems to ensure proper vehicle handling and safety.
  • Replace damaged body panels and parts with new or used parts, depending on the customer's preference and budget.
  • Utilize specialized welding techniques to repair damaged metal parts, including MIG, TIG, and resistance welding.
  • Utilize computerized measuring systems to ensure proper alignment and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and customers to ensure clear understanding of repair needs and timelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., auto body repair, mechanical engineering).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in auto body repair, with an emphasis on structural repairs.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques and use of specialized tools and equipment.
  • Experience in frame and suspension alignment.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical manuals.
  • Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Relevant certification(s) such as ASE Structural Technician or I-CAR Gold Class certification.


Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
