Press Machine Operator

SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated individual eager to master press operations and eventually assist in training fellow team members. We prioritize internal advancement, so we are looking for candidates who aspire to grow within the organization and take on leadership roles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Examine job specifications provided by the Shop Foreman for hinge requirements and quantities.
• Cross-check hinge specifications against the corresponding drawings.
• Ensure that the materials used meet the hinge specifications.
• Position sheared blanks accurately within the designated gauging of the tool.
• Operate the press for a predetermined duration to complete the task.
• Inspect the initial output of the operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Continue operations as per the Job Traveler for the entire lot.
• Conduct periodic inspections of hinges throughout the production process.
• Label the lot, complete necessary documentation, and proceed according to job orders.
• Load, install, and properly configure the required tools.
• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with time standards and quality expectations.
• Make routine decisions and apply problem-solving skills to address basic manufacturing challenges.
• Document and report material, production, and quality control issues.
• Maintain performance logs for assigned equipment and communicate any deficiencies to the maintenance team.
• Engage in preventative maintenance activities at the operator level.
• Select appropriate tooling for tasks using setup documents or guidance from supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of press-related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience is required.
• Welding experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat.
• The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
