Caton Construction Group is seeking a skilled Grade Foreman to lead our roadway construction project in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Job Summary

The Grade Foreman is a field position responsible for organizing and leading a crew to safely and efficiently perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, balancing highway and road construction/reconstruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate construction work according to priorities and plans.
  • Plan, organize, and lead grading crew.
  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew.
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.
  • Schedule aggregate material quantities and deliveries.
  • Determine trucking needs and schedule truck.
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople.
  • Ensure labor and other resources are adequate.
  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
  • Resolve problems when they arise.
  • Report on progress to managers, engineers, etc.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with normal days and hours of work being Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch. Work may be local or out of town, requiring overnight stays. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a construction foreman.
  • Diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter, etc.) a plus.
