At Houston County Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing highly skilled work related to the maintenance and repair of heating and air conditioning equipment in all county buildings.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform general repair and maintenance work on buildings and related systems, including air conditioning, heating, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.
- Repair and maintain appliances and equipment, and inspect buildings and equipment to identify needed repairs.
- Prepare estimates of time, materials, and labor required for projects.
- Coordinate departmental projects and activities with private contractors, subcontractors, other county departments, outside agencies, and other related parties.
- Perform highly skilled work related to the maintenance and repair of heating and air conditioning equipment in all county buildings.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including repairing lock systems, changing air filters, cleaning condenser coils, changing light bulbs and ballasts, repairing/replacing door hardware, etc.
- Test machinery, equipment, and parts for proper operations.
- Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools associated with construction, maintenance, and repair of county facilities.
- Determine materials and supplies needed for projects and coordinate their availability.
- Maintain inventory of departmental equipment, materials, and supplies, and initiate requests for new or replacement materials.
- Complete various forms, reports, work orders, or other documents and forward them as appropriate or maintain them for reference.
- Receive and review various reports, forms, diagrams, and other documentation, and process or forward them as appropriate.
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, construction drawings, and electrical diagrams.
- Create maintenance schedules and verify that work has been completed.
- Monitor personnel performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Create replacement schedules for current equipment across the county.
- Assist the supervisor in creating and prioritizing budgets for new and current equipment.
- Communicate via telephone and/or two-way radio, provide information, take and relay messages, and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to routine requests for information or assistance from members of the staff, the public, or other individuals.
- High school diploma or GED required, with experience in commercial HVAC repair.
- Five years of experience in maintenance, operation, and repair of heating and air conditioning equipment.
- Three years of experience in general or specialized facilities maintenance/repair work, building construction, or a related field.
- Valid Georgia Driver's License and valid Refrigerant Type I certification required.
The Senior HVAC Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to physical demands, including operating heavy equipment, machinery, and tools. The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors is essential.
