Job Title: Elementary Lunchroom/Recess Supervisor

South Burlington School District is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Elementary Lunchroom/Recess Supervisor. This position is responsible for providing assistance to students during lunch and recess breaks, ensuring a positive and safe environment for students to eat and enjoy recess time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise students at lunchtime and recess breaks, circulating among students to assist and maintain order and safeguard school property.
  • Monitor student behavior and take appropriate action to quell disruption and/or inappropriate behavior in accordance with school policies.
  • Assume responsibility for play equipment and organize group games and activities.
  • Direct movement of groups to and from the playground, lunchroom, and classrooms in a safe and organized manner.
  • Assist with lunchroom cleanup and recommend measures for improving cafeteria services to the Nutritional Services Director and/or Principal.
  • Communicate with school personnel to ensure the safety of students during lunch and recess through collaborative supervision.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training is helpful.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively to staff and students in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and division in practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is moderate to loud, and the incumbent must be able to work outside for recess periods. The employee will frequently walk, talk, hear, and stand, and occasionally sit while performing the duties of this job.

Terms of Employment:

This is a school-year position with annual evaluations.
