Job Title: Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech/Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant or Surge Tech/Assistant to join our team at Dermatology Medical Partners.

Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant or Surge Tech/Assistant in our practice, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our Dermatologists in delivering exceptional services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Perform all processes to prepare tissue samples (Mohs and frozen sections) for diagnostic evaluation, ensuring that all regulations are met and that all productivity and quality standards are met or surpassed.
  • Monitor all quality control and quality assurance documentation and report any variances to the Histology Manager.
  • Monitor collection and pick-up of hazardous waste and forward all documentation to the Histology Manager.
  • Maintain all equipment (cryostats, refrigerators, hoods) according to established protocols.
  • Patient charting in an EMR system.
  • Returning patient calls.
  • Scribing visits for providers, dictating notes with providers.
  • Logging and maintenance of paths and patient path call backs.
  • Entering patient demographics and scheduling patients into practice management system.
  • Managing patient charts for prescriptions, diagnosis, medical records, patient correspondence.
  • Assist physician with all dermatological procedures.
  • Instrument auto-clave duties.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Pursuit or completion of MA Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in the Dermatology field preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with patient charting (i.e., scribing patient history, doctor's diagnosis description and treatment plans, including prescriptions and patient instructions into patient chart, in detail).
  • 2 plus years' experience working in a medical office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
  • Knowledge of medical/dermatology terminology and abbreviations preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies.

It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
