We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Structural Engineer to join our team at Southwest Research Institute. As a key member of our structural design and analysis team, you will be responsible for performing professional aerospace structural engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complex and comprehensive analysis and use systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects.
- Serve as a technical specialist to USAF and/or Department of Defense (DoD) officials responsible for broad program operations.
- Provide a bridge for airworthiness of commercial derivative military aircraft for USAF and FAA/civilian airworthiness.
- Knowledge of professional aerospace structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to projects.
- Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
- Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles, systems, equipment, and components.
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related engineering field.
- 5-12 years of experience in stress analysis and common structural failure modes.
- 5-12 years of experience in aircraft structures, aircraft fleet management, structural repair, static strength analysis, stress analysis, aerospace engineering, strength of materials.
- 0-5 years of airworthiness certification (military and/or civilian) experience.
- 0-5 years of design and analysis of structural repair concepts.
Work assignment is in Ogden, Utah. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
