Cardiovascular Care Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary:
This role involves collaborating with the medical leadership in cardiothoracic surgery and healthcare personnel to deliver comprehensive patient care, including necessary medical interventions specific to the specialty area, adhering to established standardized procedures as per regulatory guidelines.
1. Provide leadership and clinical expertise to healthcare staff.
2. Assess pathophysiological conditions related to various cardiovascular diseases.
3. Formulate cardiovascular diagnoses, create treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to interventions.
4. Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic strategies.
5. Implement evidence-based medical practices to ensure quality and cost-effective patient care.
6. Educate patients and their families about cardiovascular conditions, emphasizing both primary and secondary prevention while considering their emotional, physical, and cultural needs.
7. Develop organizational skills to effectively manage a patient caseload.
8. Enhance communication and presentation skills within the interdisciplinary team.
9. Prescribe medications and treatments, including non-pharmacological therapies.
10. Provide counseling and education tailored to patient needs.
This position also entails administrative responsibilities in coordinating and delivering care to pre and post-operative patients undergoing cardiac procedures, in partnership with the healthcare team and surgical specialists.
1. Conduct pre and post-operative education sessions.
2. Assist with the patient admission process and provide teaching to patients and their families.
3. Collect and present clinical data at departmental meetings.
This role operates on an 8-hour schedule with on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of two years of direct patient care experience with a comprehensive understanding of the patient care process.
2. At least one year of experience in a managerial role, applying leadership and management principles.
3. Strong cognitive and technical skills with the ability to manage care delivery effectively.
4. Proficient in retrieving, communicating, and presenting data both verbally and in writing.
5. Flexibility in work scheduling is essential, with the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment within established guidelines.
6. Master’s degree in Nursing (MN/MSN) is required; Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.
7. Valid nursing licenses as required by the state.
8. Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory.
