Job SummaryCobb County, GA is seeking a highly skilled Librarian I - Adult Services to join our team. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, developing and implementing library programs, and recommending the selection and retention of library materials.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to library patrons, respond to questions and complaints, and research problems to initiate problem resolution.
- Program Development: Design and implement library programs and activities in assigned areas, including adult programming and outreach.
- Collection Development: Recommend the selection, retention, and general development of a library collection, including the selection of books, periodicals, and other materials for purchase.
- Computer and Reference Assistance: Assist patrons in finding required information, instruct patrons in the use of various library systems and resources, and suggest appropriate internal and external resources for queries.
- Interlibrary Loan Requests: Process interlibrary loan requests from patrons and other libraries, verify and identify requested materials, and complete related documentation.
- Outreach: Provide outreach for the branch, including visiting schools to promote library services and programs, attending meetings of neighborhood organizations and various committees, and promoting literacy programs.
- Facilities Management: Open and close library facilities, turn equipment on and off, set alarm systems, and record daily counts pertaining to volume of materials checked out in various categories.
- Education: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA Accredited University.
- Experience: One year of experience in library operations and/or customer service.
- Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Librarian certification.
- Language Proficiency: Spanish language proficiency preferred.
- Work Environment: Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
