Key Responsibilities
  • Plan of Care: Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations to assess patients' functional abilities and identify areas for improvement.
  • Patient Outcomes: Use evidence-based practices to improve patients' range of motion, muscle strength, and coordination, and to promote overall well-being.
  • Minimize Patient Risk: Educate patients and their families on preventative measures to reduce the risk of re-hospitalization.
  • Family Educator/Advocate: Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on disease management and self-care techniques.
  • Supervision: Oversee and supervise the care provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs).
  • Communication/Collaboration: Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Policies and Procedures: Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • License: Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of employment.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care setting, with preference given to those with home care experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
