Yard Supervisor

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Yard Supervisor to join our team at Metalico. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our scrap metal yard.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing company policies and procedures;
• Supervising yard personnel to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively;
• Inspecting loads for non-conforming materials and communicating with operators and drivers to ensure safe unloading practices;
• Identifying and recording inspection data, including weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap material;
• Ensuring customers drop the correct material in the correct designated areas;
• Directing drivers to drop-off locations;
• Communicating via 2-way radio with Weigh Master and yard personnel;
• Cross-training in other tasks as needed;
• Performing other tasks as assigned or requested.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A high school degree or equivalent;
• The ability to operate bobcats, forklifts, and loaders (an asset);
• The ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time;
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals (an asset);
• Quick learning skills and the ability to follow directions;
• Good communication skills and teamwork experience;
• Organizational skills and the ability to multitask;
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work;
• The ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and criminal background check.

We offer a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as:
