About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Through various programs, including Vocational Rehabilitation and Disability Determination Services, MDRS provides essential support to help individuals gain and retain employment.
About the Position: This position is part of the Community Rehabilitation Program, where the instructor plays a crucial role in delivering training and guidance to individuals with disabilities. Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, the instructor will:
• Deliver tailored instruction and training to enhance the self-sufficiency of consumers with disabilities;
• Employ diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles;
• Create a simulated work environment that fosters positive work behaviors;
• Develop individualized training plans based on assessments;
• Provide constructive feedback on performance and behavior;
• Monitor and document client progress regularly;
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during training sessions;
• Maintain inventory of training materials and equipment;
• Complete necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner;
• Uphold safety standards for both clients and the facility;
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
What You'll Need to Be Successful: Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, identify and resolve issues effectively, and adapt to changing circumstances. Strong communication skills and sound judgment are essential for managing challenges and ensuring that all relevant information is conveyed accurately.
Preferred Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent, along with relevant certifications and 0-2 years of experience in a related field, is typically required.
