Driver Requirements
- You must be 25 years or older.
- You have a driver's license.
- You have a California license plate.
- You consent to driver screening and background checks.
- You have an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Vehicle Requirements
- Your vehicle must be 2008 or newer (may vary in some regions).
- Your vehicle must have 4 doors.
- Your vehicle must have 5-8 seats, including the driver's.
- Your vehicle must have a California license plate.
If you don't have a car, you can rent one through our Express Drive program, which includes standard insurance. This option is available in select cities.
Document Requirements
- You need California vehicle insurance.
- You need a driver profile photo.
- You need proof of a vehicle inspection performed by a C-BAR certified mechanic (we'll show you options in the Lyft app when you apply).
