About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Market Therapist to join our team at Sovah Health - Danville. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Unit, you will play a vital role in evaluating and providing therapeutic activities for patients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient needs and develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with primary care counselors.
  • Conduct assessments and establish recreational therapy goals and objectives to meet individual patient needs.
  • Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups, observing patient response and encouraging socialization.
  • Implement treatment plans using appropriate modalities, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed, seeking consultation when necessary.
  • Plan and assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment settings.
  • Provide patients and their families with information on leisure lifestyles and create awareness of recreational resources in their community.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related therapeutic discipline.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays.
  • A license from the Virginia State Board to practice in your area of specialty (preferred).
  • Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) within one year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • At least one year of experience in a psychiatric or healthcare setting (preferred).
