As a Senior Nutritionist at South Shore Health, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing plans of nutritional care for ambulatory oncology patients. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and assessing patients' nutritional needs, correlating them with other health plans, and providing medical nutrition therapy and counseling services.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement nutrition care plans for ambulatory oncology patients, utilizing clinical, biochemical, and socio-economic factors.
- Conduct individual and group sessions for patients and their families to educate and facilitate maximum nutritional compliance and intervention toward optimal treatment outcomes.
- Maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, managers, administration, and the media.
- Assess and evaluate social, financial, environmental, and medical factors impacting nutrition status, and interpret anthropometric, laboratory, clinical, and nutrient intake data to determine nutritional risk, status, dietary requirements, and feeding limitations.
- Document and communicate nutrition care plans and progress through written and verbal systems, and participate in conferences/rounds on behalf of patients with other healthcare providers.
- Participate in the development of educational materials and resources for patients and their families, and serve as a nutrition consultant, resource, and lecturer for healthcare providers, students, and the general public.
- Contribute to planning and delivering the nutrition component into patient care programs at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
- Baccalaureate degree with ADA-approved emphasis in science/education.
- Registered Dietitian, maintenance of required CEUs of 75 credits per 5-year period.
- Approved Dietetic Internship or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in areas of clinical, educational, and oncological dietetics preferred.
