Assistant Librarian

Join the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library team as an Assistant Librarian and play a vital role in helping patrons find their way, access materials, and use library resources.

The Assistant Librarian will assist patrons with finding information, using library resources, and accessing materials. This role will also involve proposing and running activities, programs, and events, as well as engaging with patrons, colleagues, and the community to ensure a positive library experience.

• Assist patrons with finding information and using library resources
• Propose and run activities, programs, and events
• Engage with patrons, colleagues, and the community to ensure a positive library experience
• Assist with finding facilities, services, resources, and technology in the library and city/county
• Help patrons with technology, including computers, internet, ebooks, and more
• Promote EVPL services and programs to patrons and the community
• Manage library accounts, including issuing cards and handling fees
• Communicate library policies and procedures to patrons
• Support materials management, including checkouts, holds, and shelving

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 2+ years' experience in customer service
• 1+ years' experience with a variety of computer systems (printers, digital catalogs, eReaders, etc.)
• Enthusiasm for reading, listening, viewing, and learning
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Google Suite products
• Must obtain and maintain Indiana State Library professional librarian accreditation, which includes at minimum 3 Library Science courses
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation

• 1+ years' experience working in a library
• 1+ years' experience conducting programs for and/or teaching patrons of all ages
• A continuous learner with a welcoming attitude, a collaborative work ethic, and a desire to go above and beyond to serve our diverse community
