Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Westbury Animal Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, medical procedures, and laboratory tests
  • Provide nursing care and comfort to patients, including administering medications and monitoring vital signs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, test results, and treatment plans
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-anesthetic exams and post-operative care
  • Assist with routine exam-room procedures, such as venipunctures, skin scrapings, and ear treatments
  • Perform suture removals, nail trims, and express anal glands
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling client communications
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary experience preferred
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other staff members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
Working Conditions

Our hospital is a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and customer service. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be exposed to a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and other small animals. You will also be required to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves and masks, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
