Job Summary

Desert Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our Cardiovascular Operating Room team. As a RNFA, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our surgeons during complex cardiovascular procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgeries, utilizing your expertise in perioperative nursing practice.
  • Perform first assistant behaviors according to standardized hospital policies, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
  • Circulate, scrub, and perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating your ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Participate in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients, utilizing your knowledge of current nursing theory and practice.
  • Recognize safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventative and corrective actions, maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of Nursing, with a current California RN license.
  • Certified as a perioperative nurse (CNOR) required.
  • Completion of an approved/accredited RNFA course, including the completion of the required internship hours.
  • 2-3 years of extensive experience as CVOR Surgical Tech.
  • Proficient in perioperative nursing practice as both scrub and circulating nurse with diversified operating room experience.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and co-workers inter- and intra-departmentally.
