We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Worker to join our Environmental Services team at Mount Sinai Morningside. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain patient and non-patient areas, including rooms, corridors, and public spaces, according to standardized procedures.
- Operate mechanical equipment, tools, and cleaning supplies to ensure a high level of cleanliness and safety.
- Set up conference rooms and private dining rooms for various types of meetings and gatherings, observing safety rules and regulations.
- Keep equipment clean and in good condition, and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepare cleaning solutions, housekeeping supplies, and equipment as assigned to perform housekeeping-related tasks.
- Dust, clean, and disinfect surfaces, fixtures, and equipment, including furniture, windows, lights, and other areas that accumulate dust and soil.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, fixtures, pipes, tile walls, metals, partitions, and attachments, and replenish soap and paper supplies as needed.
- Hang and/or remove cubicle curtains, drapes, shades, and blinds, and move furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
- Spot clean windows, walls, and carpets, and vacuum carpet and upholstered furniture.
- Clean or remove spills observed or upon request, and follow established procedures in performing all tasks.
- Use various equipment while performing assigned tasks, and operate equipment in a safe manner, cleaning all equipment according to established guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA/JCAHO standards, and follow standard practices for storing, issuing, labeling, and disposing of chemicals and regulated medical waste.
- Report all safety hazards, including leaky pipes and faucets, and broken furniture, blinds, and other equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in institutional cleaning preferred.
