Job Summary

The City of Dover is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist. This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment, including overhauls, adjustments, and installations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using computer-based diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Conduct minor and major tune-ups, including electrical and fuel system repairs, using specialized test and repair equipment.
  • Make emergency repairs at job sites or equipment locations as required.
  • Weld and modify equipment, fabricate parts, and install special equipment as necessary.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintain digital Fleet Maintenance records.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, grease and lubrication, tire changes, and other service maintenance as required.
  • May occasionally repair small engines and maintain accurate computerized work logs, repair orders, and maintenance records.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the repair of heavy-duty gas and diesel engines/heavy equipment.
  • Extensive training in SCR/DPF emissions systems, welding, electrical, and fuel systems.
  • Valid CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsement.
  • ASE Light/Heavy certification and NH Vehicle Inspection licenses.
  • Diesel aftertreatment certificate.
