Job Overview

Position: Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator - Day Shift

Compensation: $26-32/hr. (based on performance and experience)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 6 AM to 4:30 PM; occasional overtime on Saturdays

Role Summary:

  • Cannonball Recruiting LLC is looking for meticulous and skilled Structural Steel Fitters/Fabricators to enhance our expanding Steel Fabrication division. The ideal candidates will be responsible for fitting and assembling structural frameworks, components, and materials such as angle iron, plates, wide flange sections, and various steel shapes.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of all tack tests for FCAW
  • Exceptional layout and mathematical abilities
  • Thorough understanding of pre-heating processes
  • Proficient in setting up and utilizing track torches
  • Adherence to safety protocols and procedures
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Layout, position, align, and fit together fabricated components of structural metal products according to blueprints and layout specifications
  • Safely operate overhead cranes
  • Accurately fit mill to bear components such as stiffeners, base plates, and other structural elements
  • Utilize cutting and heating torches effectively
  • Assess camber and sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapes
  • Make necessary adjustments in compliance with relevant codes and specifications independently
  • Conduct complex heat corrections while following established procedures without supervision
  • Set up intricate jigs or assemblies
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures
  • Interpret complex documents including blueprints, safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Understand weld symbols and prepare joints according to WPS standards
  • Deliver finished products that meet industry standards, codes, and client expectations by upholding quality procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, including cleaning and scrap removal
