Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Success Advisor to join our team at the State of Colorado. As a Student Success Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the success of students in our Talent Search program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of 180 to 250 students, providing direct assistance and academic advising to program participants.
  • Determine services needed to achieve educational goals and track progress.
  • Provide information about college and career exploration, coordinate tutoring, and offer college access assistance.
  • Attend and assist with field trips, maintain student records, and enter data into the program's database.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating year-round program events, including reserving transportation, room reservations, and ordering food.
  • Manage office functions, including answering the telephone, providing customer service, and purchasing office supplies.
  • Perform community outreach to recruit Talent Search participants, developing presentations and speaking to groups of potential participants, parents, and staff members.
  • Monitor processing procedures in compliance with TRIO Federal rules and regulations, compile data, and assist the Director in preparing the Annual Performance Report.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to target schools and transport students in a 15-passenger van.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using MS Office software and social media.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
  • Experience working with first-generation and low-income students in an educational environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience relating to diverse populations and constituents.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Experience in a position requiring administrative skills, including office management and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social science field, social work, or related field.
  • Familiarity with CSU Pueblo's business processes and resource management systems.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, or other grant budget accounting procedures and managing budgets.
  • Experience in a position requiring familiarity with student support program databases.
  • Two or more years of professional experience related to college admissions, advising, and/or financial aid.
  • Experience coordinating and planning educational programs and activities for youth or families.
  • Experience supporting first-generation and low-income participants in a student-support program.
