About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Driver License Examiner to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Driver Exam Services/District 6 Hilliard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough examinations of applicants for vehicle operator's licenses, ensuring compliance with Ohio's motor vehicle laws and regulations.
  • Administer driving tests to applicants for various license classes, including Class D, motorcycle, moped, and commercial driver's licenses.
  • Evaluate and grade applicants' driving abilities, using BMV computer systems to record test results and applicant information.
  • Conduct written and oral tests to assess applicants' knowledge of laws and signs, as well as eye tests to determine visual acuity.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants and the public regarding the examination process.
  • Prepare and process applications for licenses, maintain files, and order necessary supplies.
Requirements
  • Formal education in arithmetic, including calculating fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License and 21 years of age.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, administer and score examinations, and handle routine telephone and in-person contact with applicants and the public.
