Marketing Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing Assistant to join our team at the City of Hampton, VA. As a Marketing Assistant, you will play a key role in developing and implementing marketing initiatives to promote events at the Hampton Coliseum, the American Theatre, and the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote events and increase ticket sales.
  • Coordinate production of advertising materials, including print and digital ads, flyers, posters, and postcards.
  • Monitor media outlets for coverage of Hampton Coliseum, the American Theatre, and the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with media contacts to generate favorable publicity.
  • Assist in planning and implementing new media communication strategies, including social media, email marketing, and blogging.
  • Perform marketing-related duties on event days, including representing the City of Hampton at public events.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Two years of marketing experience, preferably in a public assembly facility or entertainment venue.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Access and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and their use in a professional environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
