Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Lead Civil Engineering Specialist IV for the Carolinas, with the option to work from Columbia, SC, or other offices in the region. In this role, you will leverage your advanced technical skills and experience in complex design projects, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on High Tech and Logistics initiatives using a Programmatic approach. Key Responsibilities

The Lead Civil Engineer will focus on High Tech and Logistics Industrial projects designed within the South Carolina Regional B+P group, emphasizing civil design elements such as grading, drainage, and utility systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to specific components of broader engineering assignments.
  • Collecting and correlating essential engineering data following established procedures.
  • Engaging in detailed engineering tasks involving calculations and straightforward tests.
  • Proposing solutions for new challenges encountered.
  • Conducting interdisciplinary reviews of project outputs and identifying inconsistencies.
  • Providing mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Drafting technical specifications.
  • Ensuring project delivery aligns with budget and schedule expectations under moderate supervision.
  • Designing utilities, roadways, site development, grading, drainage, and erosion control measures.
  • Conducting drainage studies, including low-impact development strategies and hydrology assessments.
  • Preparing drawings, specifications, basis of design documents, and technical memos.
  • Managing permit applications, including NPDES and SWPPP.
  • Collaborating with other professionals on reports, studies, and design narratives.
  • Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite effectively.
  • Working in an office environment with potential site visits.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with a minimum of six years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current EIT certification in South Carolina with the potential to obtain PE within two years.
  • Proficient in CAD Civil 3D, BIM-Revit, and other design software.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks, and Enscape.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Passionate about design and eager to contribute to a progressive team environment.
