Position Overview:

This role is responsible for conducting diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced ultrasound technology. The incumbent will perform a variety of intricate examinations to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a diverse range of complex ultrasound examinations to support the diagnosis and management of patient ailments.
  • Review and interpret requests from healthcare providers for ultrasound imaging.
  • Integrate clinical history and relevant data to ensure optimal ultrasound examination outcomes.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging, explaining procedures to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring high-quality imaging results.
  • Monitor patient status during procedures and provide emergency assistance as necessary.
  • Assist in invasive procedures, such as biopsies, utilizing specialized ultrasound equipment.
  • Collaborate with radiologists or physicians to interpret results and provide insights based on imaging findings.
  • Document diagnostic results systematically while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Manage scheduling and logistics for ultrasound services, accommodating referrals from various healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure the proper upkeep and functionality of ultrasound equipment, maintaining detailed records of operations.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities to comply with healthcare standards.
  • Stay updated on advancements in ultrasound technology and methodologies through continuous education and training.
  • Provide mentorship and training to less experienced technologists in ultrasound practices.
  • Facilitate clinical instruction for staff and trainees in diagnostic imaging techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in working with patients across all age groups.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Ultrasound or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in ultrasound technology is preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required.
  • Background checks and driving record assessments are necessary for employment suitability.
  • A valid driver's license may be required, subject to specific conditions.
  • Fluency in both the Tohono O'odham language and English may be required based on departmental needs.
