About Baystate Medical Center: Baystate Medical Center, part of Baystate Health, a nonprofit integrated healthcare system affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate, is seeking an Associate Chair for Psychiatry Education to enhance the Department of Psychiatry in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities: The Associate Chair for Education will undertake a dual role encompassing both clinical and administrative duties. This position involves providing leadership support to Program Directors in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and Consult-Liaison Psychiatry. The Associate Chair will oversee all clinical education initiatives within Psychiatry, including the training of UMass Chan medical students, 16 Psychiatry residents, and fellows rotating through various services.

The Associate Chair will report directly to the Chair of Psychiatry and collaborate with faculty and Graduate Medical Education (GME) colleagues to shape the development of educational programs. Each educational program and clerkship will have its own director who will report to the Associate Chair in their educational leadership capacity. This role also offers eligibility for a faculty appointment within the Department of Psychiatry at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate. The Psychiatry Department provides a comprehensive range of clinical services, including Inpatient, Partial Hospital, Outpatient, Consultation-Liaison, Emergency Psychiatry, and Integrated Behavioral Health Services, serving as training sites for educational programs.

Qualifications: Candidates must be Board Certified in General Psychiatry with a minimum of 6 years of post-training experience. Prior experience in clinical education program leadership, such as serving as a Residency or Fellowship Program Director or Medical Student Clerkship Director, is essential.
