Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Preoperative/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's Medical Center in TX. As a Preoperative/PACU Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe transition of patients from the preoperative to the post-anesthesia care unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in the preoperative and PACU settings, ensuring accurate and timely administration of medications, vital signs, and other necessary interventions.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless patient care, including preoperative preparation, anesthesia administration, and post-anesthesia recovery.
  • Utilize Meditech charting system to document patient information, including medical history, allergies, and treatment plans.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure excellent patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Participate in unit-specific initiatives to improve patient care, safety, and satisfaction, such as quality improvement projects and staff education programs.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of TX
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Preoperative/PACU setting
  • Strong IV skills and experience with Meditech charting system
  • Preferred skills include block experience and port access skill set
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including 5:30A-2:00P shifts
Unit Information
  • 35-bed unit with 12 staff members
  • Day shift staff distribution: 1 charge, 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters
  • 2x CNCs, RNs x 10
  • Patient ratios: 3:1, fluctuates based on volume
