Senior HVAC Technician

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position located within the Facilities Management, Research and Administration Facilities Department in Bastrop, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to act as a subject matter expert and maintain and coordinate heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) work, including sheet metal ductwork and control instrumentation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems.
- Makes initial settings and final adjustments of commercial HVAC systems and modifies existing installations to obtain required results.
- Monitors and troubleshoots HVAC issues through BAS systems and/or other diagnostic tools.
- Follows schedule of preventive maintenance and makes recommendations regarding major overhaul of systems.
- May order materials and maintain inventory.
- Coordinates and prioritizes the workflow of technicians and mechanics.
- Investigates outages.
- Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases, and review processes.
- Inspects contracted HVAC work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant.
- Functions as a point of contact for vendors.
- Prepares and submits reports.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives.
- May precept staff.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements
Associates or Bachelors degree in air conditioning/refrigeration engineering or technology or mechanical engineering.
Preferred Experience
Two years of supervisory/team lead experience and/or one year of experience with MD Anderson building systems specifications and Owner Design Guidelines.
