POSITION SUMMARY:
The Agricultural Facility Supervisor will oversee and implement various aspects of Community Farm Facility Management while ensuring the successful execution of farming operations. This role emphasizes stewardship of the farm and the organization, focusing on productivity, teamwork, and collaboration to enhance the quality of farm community processes, equipment, infrastructure, and knowledge.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure operational excellence on a daily basis, contributing to the enhancement of the farm program and its operations. Manage all project phases, including construction, repair, and maintenance.
- Facilitate tours and work sessions that create positive experiences for volunteers and partners, promoting a human-centered approach to service delivery.
- Support Volunteer Management Systems, including onboarding and training best practices.
- Assist in planning and conducting workshops focused on sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and environmental stewardship.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills, with a strong commitment to relationship building and responsiveness to community needs.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers, guests, and visitors, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and effective communication in a diverse environment.
- Conduct thoughtful communication in person and through written correspondence.
- Collaborate effectively within a team setting.
- Lead and develop a team of volunteers dedicated to facility projects.
- Manage all farming duties, including planting, harvesting, and landscape maintenance, while learning about regenerative farming practices.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance and repair of tools, machinery, and structures, ensuring cleanliness and organization across the farm.
- Monitor safety and security concerns, conducting regular inspections of safety equipment.
- Oversee building maintenance, ensuring cleanliness and functionality of facilities.
- Manage grounds maintenance, including landscaping and snow removal, as well as infrastructure related to growing areas.
- Handle purchasing and vendor pickups, along with other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, with some flexibility on Saturdays.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Interest in both trades and horticulture is encouraged; agricultural knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or willingness to learn.
- Desire to take pride in building a successful regional program.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Curiosity and a passion for learning.
