A Transportation Specialist is responsible for safely operating a van or bus under the guidance of a supervisor, ensuring the timely transport of students and clients to various locations. This role may also involve providing transportation for private charter trips and managing clients with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a minivan along designated routes while adhering to scheduled times, ensuring the safe loading and unloading of passengers.
- Transport students and educators during school-related activities.
- Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to confirm it is in optimal condition.
- Perform a child safety check after each trip.
- Maintain discipline and order among passengers.
- Adhere to company protocols regarding interactions with students, parents, educators, and medical professionals.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager or Dispatcher to verify and document route changes and assist in the development of efficient routes.
- Monitor and record route timings and provide insights for enhancing operational efficiency.
- Keep accurate records and submit necessary reports.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and ready for use.
- Promptly report any mechanical issues.
- Educate students on safe riding practices and conduct evacuation drills as needed.
- Complete the required small vehicle operation certification course.
Essential Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid State Driver's License that meets company standards.
- Current Driver's Physical Examination report.
- Proven ability to operate assigned vehicles, including any specialized equipment, under various road and weather conditions.
