The role of the Butcher Specialist is to deliver an exceptional Meat/Seafood Department experience by actively engaging with customers, ensuring they receive outstanding service and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

The following are essential duties of this position. Associates are responsible for completing all tasks assigned to ensure the smooth operation of our business. All associates must perform their duties in a manner that upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.

  • Arriving for scheduled shifts punctually and consistently, capable of clear communication and demonstrating the physical ability to perform assigned tasks safely while providing excellent service.
  • Encouraging sales through engaging conversations with customers, offering product suggestions, and discussing current promotions and services. (Examples may include: inquiring if customers need additional products, sharing information about Yoke's signature items, and providing cooking advice).
  • Delivering customer service by greeting patrons and informing them about special features, product details, and services offered by the Meat/Seafood Department.
  • Understanding and executing proper procedures for cutting, trimming, and boning various meat and seafood products. Additionally, assisting with tasks such as setting displays, preparing salads, managing stock levels, and using promotional cards to enhance customer experience.
  • Safely operating essential equipment including slicers, grinders, and other meat processing tools.
  • Assisting in training new apprentice meat cutters.
  • Completing tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Accurately processing special order requests from customers.
  • Mentoring new associates and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through attentive service.
  • Complying with all local, state, federal, and company regulations regarding workplace safety, food handling, and sanitation standards.
  • Actively participating in the Meat/Seafood Department's safety initiatives, including maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Communicates effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Mathematical Skills: Capable of performing mathematical calculations involving money and weight measurements.
  • Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
  • Other Qualifications: Meets state requirements for operating meat processing equipment.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Food Handlers Permit and a valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations:

This position requires physical effort, and associates are expected to adhere to safety standards at all times. This includes using personal protective equipment and understanding safe lifting techniques.
